Lancaster Polo Club hosted young competitive polo players Sunday for a match and accompanying market.

The U.S. Polo Association hosted a qualifying match as part of its Youth Tournament Series Polo Match, one of many held across the country this summer. At each qualifier, all-stars are judged on their horsemanship, sportsmanship, playing ability at their current handicap and ability to play as a member of a team. All-stars are then eligible to be selected to advance to the national championship, planned for Sept. 11-15 in Santa Ynez, California.

In the first match, Lancaster topped Garrison Forest 5-3. In the second, Marlan Farm overcame Work-to-Ride 5-4, said organizer Gillian McSherry.

There was also an accompanying vendor market, and Twisted Sisters Ice Cream was on site to serve sweet treats.

The Lancaster Polo Club is at 70 Church St. in Lititz. For more information, visit facebook.com/lancasterpoloclub.
